David Knight

David is a composer, orchestrator, performer and teacher, living and working in the United Kingdom. He has worked extensively in writing, orchestration and score preparation for a wide variety of Films, TV shows and Games, and composes and arranges a large amount of concert music.

He currently lives and work in Wiltshire, England, after having spent five years as Composer-in-Residence at Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou, in China, where he worked closely with pupils and the school ensembles to arrange and compose new exciting works for the school and the wider community to enjoy. He now teaches an array of disciplines, both remotely and in-person, spanning from saxophone and composition to Music Theory and Music A-Level.

He studied composition with Richard Barnard in his youth, and subsequently with Julian Philips at Guildhall school of Music in London, where he studied for his Bachelors degree in Composition.

David Knight is a UK-based composer, orchestrator, performer and teacher who offers music tuition and private lessons both remotely and in person. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied with Julian Philips, and he also studied composition in his youth with Richard Barnard.

With over five years of teaching experience, David currently teaches Composition to A-Level Music students with Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. His background includes five years as Composer-in-Residence at Wycombe Abbey School Changzhou (China), where he worked closely with pupils and school ensembles to arrange and compose new works for performances in the school and wider community.

As a private tutor, David teaches Music, Music Performance, Music Theory and Music Technology across Key Stage 3, 11+, 13+, GCSE, AS Level and A Level, and can also support learners at Bachelor’s level (other). He also offers Piano teaching at Professional Qualification level, alongside wider practical and creative musicianship—including saxophone and composition—tailored to the student’s goals.
