William Barnardo

William Barnardo is a professional musician and artist with over seven years teaching experience. Having graduated with first class honours from The University of York reading Music, he went on to complete a scholarship in the prestigious I.S.I. Surakarta (conservation for Indonesian arts) studying Central Javanese classical music. While in Java he also performed and rehearsed regularly at the Mangkunegaran Palace for the palace dancers.

He now teaches with several charities in prisons, schools, and art centres, as well as his one-to-one music lessons for children and adults. He has an in-depth theoretical, and practical, knowledge of music spanning many styles, and a flare for engaging and inspiring teaching. He is also a composer, installation artist, and oil painter and organises small scale concerts and festivals promoting the performing arts.

He holds a first-class Honours BA in Music from the University of York, and completed a scholarship at I.S.I. Surakarta (conservation for Indonesian arts), where he studied Central Javanese classical music and performed and rehearsed at the Mangkunegaran Palace for palace dancers.

As a private tutor, William teaches one-to-one music lessons for children and adults, working with students at a wide range of levels. He supports Music across Key Stage 3, GCSE, AS Level, A Level and BA level, as well as Music Technology at AS and A Level. He also teaches Music Theory and Piano up to Grade 8, making him a strong choice for students looking for a dedicated piano tutor alongside broader musicianship and theory.

Alongside private lessons, William runs community music groups and concerts and works with several music education charities in settings including prisons, schools, and art centres.
